friendyouneed is a brand operated by KAPT Ventures ("we", "us", "our"). KAPT Ventures is committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and applicable global data protection laws. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By registering or using friendyouneed, you confirm that you have read this policy and agree to the practices described here.

 

1. What We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service safely and effectively:

• Account information: your chosen nickname (display name) and verified email address. For users in India, a verified mobile number is also stored. International users are not required to provide or verify a mobile number.
• Registration consent record: a timestamped log that you completed the registration consent process. This contains no personal content — only a record that consent was given, the date, and the version of the terms accepted.
• Audio session data: Audio sessions are never recorded or stored. No session content is retained at any point.
• Voluntary feedback and reviews you choose to submit.
• Technical data: device type, browser, and anonymised usage behaviour used solely for platform improvement.

 

2. What We Do NOT Collect or Share

• We do not record or store your audio conversations under any circumstances. No session content is ever retained.
• We do not sell your data to any third party, anywhere in the world.
• We do not share identifiable session content with advertisers, insurers, employers, or any external party.
• We do not expose listener or user phone numbers to each other at any point. All sessions are routed through our secure, closed in-app audio system.

 

3. How We Use Your Data

• To connect you with an available listener.
• To send session confirmations, reminders, and platform updates.
• To improve platform experience and listener matching quality.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations in the jurisdictions where we operate.

 

4. Data Retention

We store only your nickname, verified email address, and (for India users) your verified mobile number. A timestamped consent record is also retained for legal compliance — this contains no personal content, only confirmation that you agreed to our terms and the date on which you did so. No session content, audio, booking history, or session metadata is stored at any point. You may request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting privacy@friendyouneed.com. We will confirm deletion within 7 days.

 

5. Your Rights

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and data.
• Request a portable copy of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@friendyouneed.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Under India's DPDP Act 2023, you additionally have the right to nominate another individual to exercise your data rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity. To register a nominee, contact privacy@friendyouneed.com.

Users in the European Union / UK additionally benefit from rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Users in California (USA) may have additional rights under the CCPA.

 

6. International Data Transfers

friendyouneed is operated from India. If you access the platform from outside India, your data may be transferred to and processed in India. We apply appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

 

7. Cookies

We use functional cookies only — strictly necessary for the platform to operate. We do not use advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies.

 

8. Age Requirement

friendyouneed is intended exclusively for users aged 18 and above. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, processing personal data of individuals under 18 requires verifiable parental consent, which this platform does not currently collect. We therefore do not accept registrations from users under 18. At registration, all users must self-declare that they are 18 or older. If we discover or receive credible information that a registered user is under 18, their account will be immediately deactivated and all associated data deleted within 7 days.

 

9. Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS 1.2 or higher). Audio sessions are routed through a secure, closed in-app system. No user phone numbers are visible to listeners or other users at any time.

 

10. Legal Basis for Processing

KAPT Ventures processes your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Consent: you provide explicit, informed consent at registration by completing our consent declaration. This consent can be withdrawn at any time by requesting account deletion.
• Contract: processing your nickname and email is necessary to provide the service you have registered for.
• Legal obligation: we may process or retain data where required by applicable law.

For users in the EU/UK, these bases correspond to Article 6(1)(a), (b), and (c) of the GDPR respectively.

 

 

11. Grievance Officer (India)
